ADI Design Index 2011 - Selection

A complex project recovering the purest Chinese tradition of porcelain manufacturing, giving it a contemporary twist, through a variety of handles that bear the signature of eight international designers. Pierre Charpin, Bjorn Dahlstron, Rodolfo Dordoni, Natalie Du Pasquier, Gordon Guillaumier, James Irvine, Jasper Morrison and George Sowden, each adopting their own formal language, design one hundred and forty pieces, collected in sixteen product families, each unique in character.
This is what ADI Index says about it – it was born from a happy intuition: to make porcelain a material for furniture handles again, as was the tradition in the past, combining it with modern design forms. The products created are numerous and very different from each other: no longer, or not only, simple knobs, but shapes that have architectural references, others more similar to jewels, others still crossed by graphic and tactile effects to be explored. The eight designers called to collaborate, very different in language and sensibility, have created several families of products, each unique, yet all coherent with each other.
